Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, and leaders who volunteer their skills and resources to solve problems and address community needs. We are People of Action. Each year, Rotary International has a theme and initiatives that each club is encouraged to act upon.  The theme for 2022-2023 is Imagine Rotary.

Diversity is one of Rotary's longstanding core values and greatest strengths. Our culture exemplifies our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). As one of our initiatives for 2022-2023, Rotary has strengthened our commitment to DEI, resulting in a greater focus on celebrating every individual's contribution, advancing equity, and creating a more welcoming and inclusive culture.

As Rotarians, we live by a code of ethics called The Four Way test, which asks us in all we do, think, and say to consider four questions first:
  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Our 2022-2023 Speech Contest asks high school students
Why is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Important?

Any student in grades 9-12 may compete.  Participants will be asked to prepare and deliver an original 5-minute speech exploring how this question relates to your life, school, community, and Rotary values.  Speeches should be 5 minutes long, and do not have to be memorized. Scoring will be based on Content (1-15 pts), Organization (1-15 pts), Delivery (1-10 pts), and Application of Rotary Principles & Values (1-10 pts).
